IBAC Insights (newsletter)

IBAC insights issue 32

The June 2022 issue of IBAC Insights includes a message from our Commissioner, the journey from complaint to investigation, speaking up to stop improper influence, an audit of how Victoria Police handles complaints made by Aboriginal people, and more.

As we reach the halfway point in the calendar year, 2022 has already proven to be a busy and significant year for IBAC's work.

As I have indicated in previous editions, we are working to publish several important reports in the coming months which will outline findings of serious public sector corruption and make a number of significant recommendations for reform.

Events

Law Week: Who assesses the integrity of Victoria Police?. Victorian Law Week is all about helping Victorians understand their rights, find answers to their questions, know what help is available and how our legal system works. In that spirit, IBAC Deputy Commissioner Kylie Kilgour shared insights and explain how IBAC oversees the integrity of Victoria Police.

Privacy Awareness Week: Public trust in an information age. OVIC held a panel discussion on the importance of public trust in an information age. In an increasingly digital world, the public’s awareness of privacy is growing leading to higher expectation on government to handle personal information appropriately. Guest speakers broadly explored the relationship between privacy and public trust, and its influence on government service delivery.

Frank and Fair – Staying Impartial in the Public Sector webinar. IPAA Victoria held a webinar that explored how public trust is critical to the role of the Victorian public sector in delivering policies, programs and outcomes that affect the lives of all Victorians.
