Updates to our service charter

Our service charter explains what people can expect when they make a complaint to IBAC about public sector corruption or police misconduct. We first published our Service charter in November 2020.

This month we made a number of updates to our charter to:

  • simplify and clarify language to make the charter easier to understand
  • confirm our commitment to check every complaint we receive for potential breaches of human rights
  • maintain our commitment to keeping people who make complaints informed but acknowledge there are some exceptions where we are not able to do this
  • clarify that IBAC also takes complaints about those who seek to corrupt Victorian public officers or public sector employees
  • include links to more information, such as possible complaint outcomes
  • make it clearer how people can make a complaint about IBAC if they wish to
  • make it easier to contact us with service improvement suggestions.

Our service charter is our commitment to people who come to IBAC with a complaint. It outlines specifically what we will do and how we will act with fairness, professionalism and respect. We encourage Victorians to read the charter and hold us to it.
