Former Melton mayor and his father sentenced following IBAC investigation
Former Melton mayor and Labor candidate Justin Mammarella and his father Umberto 'Robert' Mammarella, a former electorate officer, have been sentenced following the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission’s (IBAC) investigation Operation Naxos.

IBAC welcomes Victoria Police’s commitment to improving their handling of complaints by Aboriginal people
IBAC's report, Victoria Police handling of complaints made by Aboriginal people, was released in May 2022 and examined Victoria Police's handling of a sample of complaints made by Aboriginal people and its oversight of a number of serious incidents involving an Aboriginal person.
IBAC welcomes Victoria Police’s recent commitment to adopting the report’s recommendations in full.

IBAC statement: Victorian Inspectorate's report on a Victoria Police complaint
Today, the Victorian Inspectorate (the Inspectorate) tabled a special report in Parliament: IBAC's referral and oversight of Emma’s complaints about Victoria Police.
IBAC Deputy Commissioner Kylie Kilgour said IBAC recognises that Emma and her children are victims of family violence perpetrated by a Victoria Police officer, and their welfare should be a priority.

IBAC statement regarding recent injunction
IBAC is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of investigations until a report is finalised. The IBAC investigation which was the subject of the recent court injunction has been conducted entirely in private. No public examinations were held as it did not meet the IBAC Act’s thresholds to do so.
