Former MP sentenced following IBAC investigation
Today in the County Court of Victoria, former Victorian MP Russell Northe was sentenced to a total of 21 months in prison for misconduct in public office, with a non-parole period of 12 months following an investigation by the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC).
The charges were as a result of IBAC’s Operation Sturt, which investigated Mr Northe’s alleged misuse of Victorian Electoral Commission funding.
IBAC is Victoria's independent anti-corruption commission, responsible for exposing and preventing public sector corruption and police misconduct.
